Adding potassium silicate at a low dose from week two gives autos sturdier stems and a bit more resistance to heat and mites, which is useful on a plant that cannot afford a setback. It has to go into the reservoir before anything else and at high pH, otherwise it drops out and clogs the mix. It is cheap and one of the few additives with a visible effect.
